Examples of on-page optimization include actual HTML code, meta tags, keyword placement and keyword density.

In simple words on page optimization is the process by which various elements on an individual web page are structured so that the web page can be found by the search engines for specific keywords or keyword phrases. It is a practice of optimizing your web pages that are visible to search engines robots and real visitors.

There are various factors that affacts the performance of any on-page optimization, some of them are discussed below:

1. Title Optimization: A site's title tag is by far the most important website optimization element. A title tag should be short but descriptive enough for your visitors to identify you and your business. Title tag is the first thing that is shown & indexed by the search engines. So naturally it is given a very high importance. Following things must be possessed by any title tag. a) Your name/ Business name/ site name/ Brand name b) some Keyword can be attached to make web page more effective. Likewise if one is selling Pizzas online he can include keywords like Order Pizza and Home Delivery Pizza in his title. c)Include some toll free telephone numbers as this may help in inreasing the authenticity of your site.

2. Meta Tags Optimization: A site's Meta description should contain a brief description of your website focusing on the areas and services that your business is specialized in. If a searcher finds it appealing he is likely to click and go inside your page to find out more information.

3. HTML Tags: It is necessary for you to highlight certain parts of your website that you want your readers to look at. There are several tags in html which allows you to do so. The header tags should be kept Bold, Italic and Underlined that may attract the attention of the visitors.

4. Keyword Optimization: Your site's content needs to be optimized in such a way that it can suit both search engines & your readers. Stuffing your site with too many keywords can make your site unreadable. So you will need to have some sort of balance between your keywords & your content.Just the right amount of key words in different forms is important but too many key words will have an negative impact on your page. Following things must be taken care of while designing the keyword for the web page. Relevance: Chosen keyword should be relevant to the business. Importance: Chosen keyword should be very important in relation to the other yet to be optimized terms. Search targeting: After choosing keywords your job is to find whether your keyword bring highly targeted traffic or not?

5. Link Optimization: t is important to optimize your internal & external outbound links for search engines as well as to give your visitors a better navigation. Link structure is another aspect of On Page Optimization. Besides creating a proper site map which helps the spider understand the hierarchy of your page and makes it easier to index, linking your pages together by using the text in your content can carry some weight when your site is indexed.

6. Image Optimization: If your site has lot of images, you need to optimize them too as they can't be read by the search engines. It's very easy for a human reader to interpret the image into its meaning. However for a Web crawler the whole interpreting process is completely different. Search Engine spiders can only read text but not images. So you need to use some special tags for your images in order to give them some meaning. An alternative text should be used to well described the image when mouse moves over the image on the web page. Always use meaningful names to the image files so that the visitors can easily identify where they have clicked.
